Mexican Pesos Gold Coins

La Casa de Moneda de México is the official Mint for Mexico, dating back to the 1500's. They are the oldest coin maker in North America.  At one point the gold Mexican Peso had the highest concentration of gold in a coin. The term peso oso came from gold content. Pesos are collected and traded around the world for their gold content. It was in the 1990's when Mexico took real gold from the coins and started making them out of aluminum and other cheaper metals.  Gold Peso's before the change have a purity of 0.900 gold and highly sought after for investment and collectors alike.
