1 oz Platinum American Eagle $100 Coin History:

First released by the United States mint in 1997, the Platinum Eagles were initially available in 1/10, 1/4, 1/2, and 1 full ozt (troy ounce) denominations.  After a decade, in late 2008, the fractionals were discontinued and only the one ounce remained.

Platinum American Eagle coins are issued annually.   They contain 99.95 percent platinum. The one-ounce coin has a face value of $100 (the largest of any U.S. coin), measures 1.287 inches in diameter and weighs 1.0005 troy ounces.

All demonimations of the proof Platinum Eagles carry a yearly design.   The bullion Platinum Eagles have the same design from year-to-year.  Pacific Rim Trading offers bullion Platinum Eagles.

Although they have been in release since 1997, there have been a few years when no platinum eagles were issued due to an insufficient quantity of blanks.  There were no bullion platinum eagles released from 2009-2013 or in 2015.  The US Mint does list the 2022 Platinum Eagle on its website  but there is no release date posted for 2022.  We will continue to monitor but for now will be offering only the random year platinums eagles.
