Junk Silver Coins

Junk silver is an informal term  used in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia for any coin that is in fair or cull condition. They have no numismatic or collectible value above the bullion value of the silver it contains.

While the name "junk" does not sound very appealing, junk silver coins are sought after for their high content of silver. Junk Silver Coins are dimes, quarters, and half dollars before 1965. Coins minted after 1965 have no silver except for Kennedy half dollars (1965-1970) which are 40% silver. War nickles 1942-1945 are 35% silver.
